Modification Corner: Transforming Shipping Containers into an Innovative Gym Space
In this case study, we will explore the use of modified containers for a fitness provider to create a gym space using two 40ft outfitted containers and a container shelter. This project showcases the potential innovative options of using shipping containers to address various unique needs, such as those of the fitness industry.
Challenge: Primal Collective was looking to start up a location and liked the idea of creating a unique gym space that would stand out in the competitive fitness market. They needed a solution that provided flexibility and a functional design.
Solution: Container Works collaborated with Primal Collective to modify two 40’ containers to form an excellent gym space when combined with a container shelter. This solution provided the desired flexibility and functionality while also having an interesting point of difference from traditional gym facilities.
Implementation:
Container Customisation: Container Works modified the two 40ft containers to create space for gym equipment, mirrors, and flooring to allow for separate workout zones. Each container was set up in such a way as to maximise space utilisation while maintaining a motivating atmosphere.
Container Shelter Integration: A container shelter was integrated in order to take advantage of and link the space between two containers. This provided a wider open space and also acted as a covered transition area, enhancing the overall aesthetic of the fitness space.
Branding and Design: Container Works painted the containers with the Primal Collective branding to create a visually appealing gym space that was able to be set up in a way that resonated with their clientele.
Results:
Unique Gym Experience: The innovative use of shipping containers and the container shelter created a unique gym space that attracted fitness enthusiasts seeking a fresh and dynamic workout environment.
Brand Differentiation: This completed space was unique and stood out from competitors.
Cost-Effective Solution: Utilising shipping containers and a container shelter proved to be a fairly cost-effective way to create a gym space compared to other construction methods.
Compact and Space-Efficient: The setup allowed the fitness business to maximise the use of limited available space in the urban area while still providing a functional gym environment.
Quick Construction: In terms of time frame once the engineering was completed on the containers they could be delivered to the location where the gym space could be set up and operational within a fairly short period of time.
Conclusion: This collaboration exemplifies the potential of shipping containers in creating unique and functional spaces. By utilising two 40ft outfitted containers and a container shelter, a great gym space was created.
